Brazil: Single Men's Paradise:
At the tiny airport in Belo Horizonte, in southeast Brazil, I find three young women,
all of them hazily familiar from the night before, waiting at the entrance. I
presume they're here to say good bye, but no, they're here to
persuade my two friends and me to stay another night. Three days ago, we took the
forty-five-minute flight from Rio de Janeiro to spend a weekend here, because soon after
moving to Brazil last December I began hearing stories about a city famed for its numerous
women. "Beautiful, desperate women," a friend from Rio told me. When a good
pal from the States visited me in March, I decided it was time to discover Belo Horizonte.
Within twenty-four hours of arriving, we became fairly intimate with three different
groups of women. For once, the reality matched the myth. Maybe the women weren't
"desperate," but they were definitely eager. And did I mention how beautiful
they were?
